The fifth Mozambique Renewable Energy Conference (RENMOZ 2026) concluded in Maputo, bringing together government officials, private sector representatives, investors, and development partners to discuss accelerating the country’s energy transition. The conference emphasized the need for increased investment and a stronger role for the private sector to achieve universal energy access and expand electricity generation and transmission capacity. Over 500 participants from 18 countries attended, signaling growing interest in Mozambique’s renewable energy sector. Keynote speakers, including the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Estevão Pale, highlighted the necessity of substantial investment and private sector involvement to meet national goals for energy access, industrialization, and economic competitiveness. Discussions also centered on strengthening partnerships to expedite project implementation, with representatives from AMER and ALER emphasizing the conference’s value as a platform for dialogue and investment promotion. Several initiatives were announced, including the PROMIR-MZ program, a planned tender for mini-grids in the second half of 2026, and financing agreements for renewable energy projects.
