The President of Mozambique received a letter from his counterpart in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Brahim Ghali, expressing gratitude for Mozambique’s ongoing support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination. The message was delivered by Sahrawi special representative Mohamed Yeslem Beisat during a meeting with President Filipe Nyusi in Maputo. Beisat stated the letter detailed recent developments in the Sahrawi struggle and addressed bilateral cooperation. The Sahrawi Republic recognizes Mozambique’s consistent backing for the freedom and self-determination of the people of Western Sahara. Both parties discussed strengthening relations and matters of mutual interest during the meeting. Mozambique has long supported the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Western Sahara dispute in line with UN and African Union principles. The meeting reaffirmed the historical ties of solidarity and cooperation between the two nations.
