Violent clashes between police and motorcycle taxi drivers in Tete, Mozambique, on Tuesday resulted in two deaths and one injury. The incidents stemmed from a multi-sectoral inspection operation conducted by police targeting vehicle drivers. Three individuals were admitted to Tete Provincial Hospital with gunshot wounds, two of whom were already deceased upon arrival. The injured individual sustained a leg wound and is undergoing treatment, but is not in life-threatening condition. Local media footage depicts scenes of unrest, including fleeing civilians, barricades, and fires along the main road. The protests temporarily disrupted traffic on National Road No. 7, a key transportation route in the city.
