The Budget Monitoring Forum (FMO), a coalition of Mozambican non-governmental organizations, is advocating for a shift in Mozambique’s budgetary priorities. The FMO believes the country should prioritize development initiatives over servicing its existing debt. Speaking from Maputo on 30 September, the organization stressed the need for increased investment in crucial sectors to foster sustainable growth. They argue that excessive debt repayment hinders progress in areas like health, education, and infrastructure. The FMO's statement reflects growing concerns about Mozambique’s debt burden and its impact on the nation’s development trajectory. This call aims to ensure resources are allocated to benefit the population and drive economic advancement rather than creditors.
