Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo has replaced Fernando Chomar with João António Xirinda as the new Head of State Protocol. The dismissal and appointment were made via Presidential Dispatch. Xirinda is a career diplomat with extensive experience in international relations. He previously held key positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, including directing the Asia and Oceania department and serving as Second Secretary at Mozambique’s High Commission in India. Most recently, he served as a Counselor at the Mozambican Embassy in China, focusing on bilateral cooperation and diplomatic representation. The presidential office stated the change aims to improve the organization and efficiency of the State Protocol, both domestically and internationally, and modernize public administration.
