Mozambique and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have agreed to develop a three-year partnership plan to bolster cooperation and secure funding for key development projects. The agreement was reached during meetings between Mozambique’s Finance Minister, Carla Loveira, and IsDB’s Vice-President for Operations, Rami Ahmad, at the 51st Annual Meeting of the IsDB Group in Baku, Azerbaijan. Discussions reviewed existing IsDB-funded projects in Mozambique, including energy transmission lines and the construction of Mueda Secondary School. The new partnership plan will establish a strategic framework and funding package aligned with Mozambique’s 2025-2029 Government Five-Year Plan. Minister Loveira also welcomed the re-election of Muhammad Suleiman Al Jasser as IsDB President and highlighted the launch of the concessional fund for development, aimed at supporting vulnerable member countries. The fund will particularly benefit 27 least developed countries facing debt sustainability issues, climate change, and geopolitical conflicts.
