The Mozambican government is investing 177 million meticais (approximately $2.7 million USD) to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the agricultural sector in Tete province. This funding aims to unlock the potential of these businesses and stimulate growth in the region’s agricultural output. The initiative focuses on providing financial resources to farmers and agri-businesses, enabling them to improve productivity and access markets. Specifically, the funds will be used for acquiring agricultural inputs, improving infrastructure, and enhancing processing capabilities. Authorities anticipate the investment will contribute to increased food security and economic development in Tete. The program is expected to benefit a significant number of smallholder farmers and create employment opportunities within the agricultural value chain. This investment underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector as a key driver of economic growth in Mozambique.
