Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo inaugurated an expansion and modernization of the Cimentos de Moçambique factory in Nacala-Porto, Nampula province. The project is hailed as a landmark achievement for the country’s industrialization and the utilization of national resources. Critically, the expanded facility will now produce clinker domestically, utilizing local limestone reserves. This reduces reliance on imports and strengthens Mozambique’s self-sufficiency in cement production. The expansion is expected to generate approximately 700 new jobs in the region, providing economic opportunities for local communities. President Chapo emphasized the strategic importance of the investment for the nation’s economic development. The factory’s modernization aims to increase efficiency and output, further solidifying Cimentos de Moçambique’s position in the market.
