A concerning number of children – at least 16,000 – in the districts of Mabalane, Chókwè and Guijá, Gaza province, Mozambique, are facing severe vulnerability. This situation is worsened by factors including flooding, poverty, and harmful cultural practices. These challenges contribute to issues like early marriages and school dropouts, jeopardizing the futures of these children. The Mozambican government, in partnership with aid organizations, is responding with a 67 million meticais investment. This funding will support protective actions aimed at improving the lives of these at-risk children.
