A phosphate mine in Morocco has constructed a road using waste rock, a byproduct of phosphate extraction. The three-layered road surface is designed to withstand heavy mining vehicle traffic and significantly reduce dust emissions. Field tests have demonstrated a 91% reduction in airborne dust, alongside improvements in overall road quality. This innovation is projected to increase mining productivity by 15 percent. Furthermore, the use of waste rock for road construction is expected to lower maintenance costs for the mine. The project provides a sustainable solution for managing mine waste while improving operational efficiency in Morocco.
