A medical team at the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Oujda, Morocco, has successfully performed a first-of-its-kind hepatic embolization procedure on a child. The procedure was necessary after the child suffered severe liver bleeding following a serious traffic accident and was admitted to intensive care. Doctors determined the patient was in critical condition due to the ongoing hemorrhage. The embolization successfully stopped the bleeding, averting a potentially fatal outcome. This marks a significant medical advancement for the hospital and represents a new treatment option for pediatric trauma cases involving liver injuries in Morocco. The procedure offers a less invasive alternative to surgery in certain situations.
