A Casablanca court has delivered verdicts in the high-profile case of an international drug trafficker known as “Desert Escobar.” Former president of the Wydad Athletic Club, Saïd Nassiri, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The ruling came from the Court of Appeal’s criminal chamber, presided over by Counselor Ali Tarshi. Nassiri was convicted on charges including forgery and other criminal offenses. Another defendant, Bouyi, received a 12-year sentence. The case has garnered significant media attention in Morocco due to the scale of the alleged drug trafficking operation and the prominence of the individuals involved. The convictions follow prosecution by public authorities.
