Morocco’s Regional Courts of Accounts have expanded audit operations concerning contracts worth 13 billion centimes (approximately €1.3 billion) issued by local authorities over the past four years. The investigations were triggered by irregularities identified in commitment, implementation, liquidation, and payment documents. Concerns were raised regarding the repeated awarding of similar contracts to the same companies. Audits are currently focused on municipalities within the administrative divisions of the Greater Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, and Marrakech-Safi regions. Sources indicate further details will be released as the investigations progress. This scrutiny aims to ensure proper management of public funds and transparency in local government contracting processes within Morocco. The initial findings prompted a deeper examination of financial records and procurement procedures.
