Mongolia’s ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) parliamentary group announced plans to conclude its spring session on July 3rd, prioritizing the passage of several key pieces of legislation. These include laws concerning business freedom, taxation, and social insurance. A revised social insurance law, years in the making, is expected to increase pensions for 504,000 citizens by 100,000-300,000 Mongolian tögrög and establish frameworks for pension accumulation and private supplementary pensions. The group also discussed increasing crude oil production to 1.5 million tons annually to meet the needs of domestic refineries. Discussions are underway regarding potential crude oil product imports from neighboring countries. The parliamentary group addressed these issues during a recent meeting, aiming for legislative completion before the session’s adjournment.
