The Mongolian Parliament is currently discussing the appointment of members to the General Election Commission. According to the Law on the Central Election Authority, the commission consists of members nominated by various entities: five by the State Structure Standing Committee of the Parliament, two by the President, and two by the Supreme Court. The Parliament holds hearings for nominees before appointing them for a six-year term. This cycle includes nominations from President D.Ariunbold, the Supreme Court’s D.Monkhzorig, and the State Structure Standing Committee’s J.Bold and D.Davaanyam. Hearings for these nominees were held on June 8th, but parliamentary debate was paused for five days by the Democratic Party faction. The issue is now being considered during a plenary session of Parliament.
