Mongolia’s parliamentary standing committee on budget has rejected a proposal to significantly raise the VAT registration threshold. The government proposed increasing the threshold from 50 million to 400 million tugriks. However, a working group within the committee proposed removing the increase, and this was supported by 56.3% of committee members. The committee’s decision was presented to Parliament earlier today. A further vote on the working group’s proposal is scheduled for this afternoon. If Parliament does not approve the committee’s decision, the VAT threshold will remain at 50 million tugriks.
