Mongolia’s Standing Committee on Legal Affairs has commenced a general oversight hearing regarding issues mentioned concerning Mongolia within crimes involving certain foreign nationals, specifically relating to the case of American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The hearing, taking place at the State Palace, aims to ensure the protection of human rights and freedoms. Today’s session will present expert opinions on Jeffrey Epstein and issues related to the rights of children and women. At 1:00 PM, experts will present findings regarding Epstein's connections to Mongolia’s natural resources, followed by a question-and-answer session. Epstein was known for close relationships with numerous celebrities in American and European politics, business, and the arts, allegedly procuring young women for their entertainment. He died by suicide in a New York City jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
