BurenScore, a Mongolian credit bureau operating with central bank approval since 2020, aims to promote financial discipline and improve credit access. Following amendments to the “Credit Information Law” in September 2025, over 250 financial institutions now rely on credit scores to assess risk. BurenScore successfully introduced alternative credit scoring in 2025 and began offering official Generic Credit Scores to individuals in May 2026, based on payment history, debt levels, monthly payments, and credit application activity. To increase accessibility and financial literacy, BurenScore has reduced the cost of obtaining a credit report from 3,000₮ to 1,000₮. This price reduction allows citizens to regularly monitor their credit history and improve their scores without significant financial burden. Regular credit monitoring is crucial for building a positive credit profile and accessing financial services. Reports are available through the e-Mongolia platform.
