Khhaan Bank has secured a $170 million long-term financing agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This represents the largest single financing commitment from the EBRD to a Mongolian financial institution. The funds will be allocated across three key programs: Green Climate Financing (GCF GFS) with $80 million for environmentally friendly projects, Women in Business (WiB) with $50 million, and Youth in Business (YiB) with $40 million. The GCF component will focus on reducing emissions and promoting energy and water efficiency. The WiB program, now in its fifth iteration with Khhaan Bank, includes a new “Care Window” initiative supporting businesses led by women in the care sector. Beyond funding, the agreement includes technical assistance to strengthen the bank’s green finance capabilities and provide training to clients. This investment aims to increase financial inclusion and support sustainable development in Mongolia.
