Eight activists led by N. Enkhbat of the “Radical Renewal” movement blocked a key transport route for concentrate from the Oyu Tolgoi mine in South Gobi province on June 17th. The protest began at 9:00 AM at the 84km intersection of the transport road. Local authorities, including the Deputy Governor of South Gobi, the Mayor of Khanbogd, and the Police Chief, issued warnings and demands to the protestors, citing illegal activity. Police initiated an investigation under the Law on Violations. The road was fully cleared and traffic resumed normal operations by 9:00 PM on the same day. Authorities emphasized that while citizens have the right to express their views and protest, obstructing traffic and disrupting the operations of businesses is illegal.
