Mongolia is implementing educational reforms to address overcrowding and improve access to quality education. The government plans to lease 376 classrooms from kindergartens and the private sector to alleviate pressure on existing schools, accommodating over 11,000 students. Simultaneously, twelve specialized high schools focusing on subjects like science, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, and information technology will be established this academic year, including one in Bayangol district. These schools will offer advanced, university-level coursework to students. A key initiative involves developing neighborhood schools, potentially through public-private partnerships, to reduce commute times and alleviate traffic congestion by an estimated 20%. The Ministry of Education aims to enroll approximately 10,000 children in these neighborhood schools next year, prioritizing accessibility and quality education close to home. The reforms also include restructuring existing schools, such as reducing class sizes at the Intellectual Cradle School and transitioning to a single-shift schedule to facilitate its development into a specialized high school.
