Mongolia is preparing for its 2026 harvest season with a focus on rapid organization and protecting crops from weather risks. The Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry announced that 2,300 soldiers and over 500 students will voluntarily participate in the harvest. Key priorities include increasing manpower, ensuring fuel and machinery readiness, promoting the sale of potatoes and vegetables, and maintaining road and energy infrastructure in agricultural regions. A fuel reserve of 12,000 tons is being secured for harvest and haymaking needs. Local authorities are tasked with protecting crops from livestock and providing accurate, timely harvest reports. This year’s harvest is expected to yield 555.3 thousand tons of grain, including 497.1 thousand tons of wheat, 168.2 thousand tons of potatoes, and 218.4 thousand tons of vegetables. The government plans to build reserves of 100,000 tons of wheat, 12,000 tons of potatoes, and vegetables to stabilize supply and prices.
