Mongolia currently hosts 72 registered branches and representative offices of international and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs), according to the Immigration Agency of Mongolia. In the first half of 2026, the agency issued new operating licenses to three foreign NGOs, extended the licenses of seven others, and revoked the licenses of fourteen. The NGOs operate across a diverse range of sectors, with humanitarian aid being the most prominent, followed by education. Significant activity also occurs in environmental protection, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare. Economic development initiatives are also supported by a number of these organizations. The Immigration Agency monitors the activities of these NGOs operating within the country’s borders.
