Following a decree from the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Minister of Industry and Mining G. Damdinnyam met with citizen representatives to address concerns regarding fuel supply, distribution, and quality. Citizens demanded stricter control over fuel importers and distributors, improved quality checks, and monitoring of potential fuel diversion or allocation under the guise of contracted organizations. Minister Damdinnyam stated the government is working to resolve long-standing issues in the fuel sector, enforce accountability on non-compliant businesses, and enhance oversight mechanisms. He supported the inclusion of citizen representatives in inspection teams at gas stations, and potential on-site fuel quality testing. The Minister warned businesses against creating artificial shortages or engaging in resale, emphasizing legal repercussions for violations. Furthermore, plans are underway to implement a unified camera system and track fuel purchase frequency by vehicle registration number to improve monitoring at gas stations in Mongolia.
