Mongolia is working to normalize fuel distribution nationwide following recent disruptions, with increased deliveries planned for Ulaanbaatar and regional areas starting Monday. An additional 4,000 tons of fuel will arrive via 65 railcars this week, aiming to prevent future shortages. Despite rising import costs—with fuel suppliers currently selling at a loss—the government will not be increasing prices for the commonly used AI-92 gasoline to protect consumers. Price increases will only reflect the augmented import costs. Authorities are focusing on bolstering fuel reserves, with 150,000 cubic meters of storage added this year, increasing reserves to an 18-day supply, aiming for a three-month reserve by 2028. The government also plans to commission domestic oil refining facilities and offers support to smaller companies constructing their own storage facilities, with 25 applications already received.
