The Mongolian government is actively addressing recent fuel shortages through a two-pronged approach: increasing fuel reserves and accelerating the construction of a domestic oil refinery. Prime Minister Ukhral stated the government is providing concessional loans to companies building storage facilities, absorbing interest on the loans through the state budget, citing “San Petroleum” as a successful example of this method. Previously, private companies maintained only a one-month fuel reserve; decades have passed without significant progress on expanding storage capacity. Future budgets will continue to support these efforts, with plans to construct additional reserves in regional areas over the next three years. Furthermore, the government has reached agreements with price councils to prevent price increases, ensuring affordable A-92 gasoline for citizens, and is attempting to avoid price hikes due to reliance on a single fuel source.
