Mongolia is currently addressing fuel shortages and distribution challenges, having received 33 railcars of AI-92 gasoline from Russia in the past 24 hours. Fuel distribution is taking place at 155 stations in Ulaanbaatar and 70 in rural areas, with potential increases to the fuel purchase limit from 50,000 to 100,000 Mongolian Tugrik being considered. Officials are working to provide real-time data on queues at fuel stations and developing a smart system for fuel management. Recognizing difficulties for the tourism sector during peak season, the Ministry is coordinating to allow tourism-related businesses and individuals to obtain fuel without restrictions upon presenting identification when leaving Ulaanbaatar. Restrictions on fuel sales into portable containers are currently limited to the capital city. Authorities are also working with the Ministry of Environment in anticipation of the upcoming COP-17 conference and ensuring a smooth fuel supply for businesses.
