Venâncio Mondlane has been officially elected and sworn in as the president of the National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (ANAMOLA). The election took place during the party’s first national convention held in Nampula, Mozambique, where Mondlane secured approximately 94.04% of the vote. He was the sole candidate for the position, having founded ANAMOLA in August and served as its interim leader since its inception. The convention, attended by around 400 delegates, focused on establishing strategic direction, approving political guidelines, and electing internal leadership bodies. Mondlane’s appointment marks a consolidation of the party’s leadership structure as it prepares for future electoral cycles, including municipal elections in 2028 and general elections in 2029. The new president has indicated a potential future bid for the presidency of the Republic, contingent on internal party strategy. The convention concluded with the presentation of key resolutions and the party’s political roadmap.
