A 36-year-old Malian man was detained in Senegal after being found with a missing three-year-old girl early Saturday morning near the Émergence interchange. Three citizens alerted authorities after observing the man with the child, deeming the situation suspicious. The man claimed he discovered the girl alone in Grand-Yoff and was attempting to protect her. However, approximately one hour after his arrest, the girl’s father, O. Diallo, arrived at the police station and identified her as his daughter, D. Diallo, who had been missing since 10 PM after going to buy sweets. Following verification, the child was returned to her father. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and the man’s motives.
