Finland’s National Land Survey of Finland (Maanmittauslaitos) is missing ownership information for approximately 216,000 properties, representing nearly eight percent of the country’s total of three million properties. Pia Aulio, from the Land Survey, explained to Lapin Kansa that the discrepancies stem from a failure to update ownership details in the land and mortgage registers. The missing data doesn’t necessarily indicate lost ownership, but rather incomplete or outdated records. This issue affects a significant portion of the national property registry. The Land Survey is working to address the problem, but the scale of missing information is substantial. The issue was reported by the Finnish newspaper, Lapin Kansa.
