The second phase of the 2026 military draft has begun today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The draft will take place over three days – October 16th, 17th, and 18th – at conscription centers across the nine districts of the capital city. According to the third chapter of Mongolia’s Military Service Law, conscripts can be temporarily excused from service due to health reasons or family hardship, provided they submit relevant documentation to the conscription board. Failure to declare valid reasons for exemption can result in penalties. Citizens who missed the draft in rural areas can participate at any conscription center within Ulaanbaatar’s nine districts. Draftees are required to bring their identification cards, conscript cards, 3x4 inch photographs, and diplomas/certificates.
