Several male tram drivers in Milan have been suspended after being accused of sharing security camera footage of female passengers in a WhatsApp group. The footage allegedly included zoomed-in images of women’s bodies and faces, accompanied by sexist comments. An investigation by the Italian Public Prosecutor’s Office is underway, focusing on at least one driver suspected of illegally accessing the tram’s security camera system. Authorities have conducted searches at the homes of five other tram employees and seized their electronic devices. The scandal was brought to light by a passenger who observed a colleague sharing an image and related comments on his phone. The passenger shared evidence with a feminist activist, who then alerted the transport company, ATM. Investigators are working to determine the extent of the illegal sharing and identify all individuals involved in the group chat.
