Meru County commemorated World Sight Day 2026 by initiating a comprehensive eye-care program focused on addressing vision challenges within the community. The program will deliver eye screenings to identify individuals in need, alongside training for local health workers to improve diagnostic and treatment capabilities. A key component of the initiative involves the distribution of reading glasses to those requiring them. This effort is being carried out in collaboration with the Meru County Government, the Council of Governors (CoG), GLADIF, LWALA Village Alliance, Livelihood Impact Fund, and other partner organizations. The collaborative approach aims to broaden the program’s reach and ensure sustainable impact on eye health in Meru County. The initiative underscores a commitment to preventative healthcare and improved quality of life for residents of Meru County.
