The first archaeological excavation is underway at the site of a medieval fortress in Trbuk, a settlement located between Doboj and Maglaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The site has been listed in the Archaeological Lexicon of Bosnia and Herzegovina for nearly 40 years, but has remained unexplored until now. A team comprised of archaeologists, students, and volunteers are currently conducting the dig, searching for artifacts and uncovering the fortress remains. This exploration offers practical experience for participating students. The project aims to shed light on the history and significance of the fortress within the region. Further findings are anticipated to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of medieval settlements in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The excavation is being reported by Sarajevo Times.
