Health authorities in Pennsylvania are reporting over 1,000 cases of measles, according to Reuters. A total of 198 individuals have been hospitalized due to the illness. Neighboring New York state has also recorded 108 cases of the highly contagious disease, for which a vaccine exists. New York Governor Kathy Hochul has implemented preventative measures that will be in effect until November 4th. The outbreaks follow growing vaccine skepticism within the USA, reportedly influenced by the power and impact of health official Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The Guardian reports this trend is contributing to the resurgence of the preventable disease across Pennsylvania and New York.
