European missile manufacturer MBDA, the producer of Storm Shadow missiles, will collaborate with Ukraine’s Luch Design Bureau to develop the Neptune-2 cruise missile. Luch previously designed and manufactured the Neptune missile system, notably used in the 2022 sinking of the Russian cruiser Moskva. This partnership signifies a deepening of military-industrial cooperation between Ukraine and Western Europe. The collaboration aims to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and potentially expand the range and capabilities of its domestically produced missile technology. Details regarding the specifics of the development process, timelines, and funding were not immediately disclosed. This joint project is expected to bolster Ukraine’s long-term security posture and reduce reliance on external arms supplies. The move underscores international support for Ukraine’s defense industry amid ongoing conflict.
