A recent judicial exercise in Marsabit County led to the release of 28 inmates from Moyale GK Prison on parole. Senior Principal Magistrate Christine Mulongo announced the releases as part of an effort to address overcrowding within the prison system. The initiative also seeks to improve access to justice for those incarcerated. The decongestion exercise took place last week, with the announcement made during a press briefing at the Marsabit Law Courts on Tuesday. Officials emphasized the importance of balancing incarceration with opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This action reflects a broader strategy to manage prison populations more effectively and ensure fair treatment of inmates. The released individuals will now serve the remainder of their sentences under parole supervision.
