The man in his 50s convicted of the murder of Heidi Sagen in Hamar will have the question of his guilt re-evaluated by the Eidsivating lagmannsrett court. This decision follows the man’s appeal of his original sentence, as outlined in a ruling from Hedmarken og Østerdal tingrett. In June, the man received a sentence of preventive detention for seven years, with a minimum serving time of four years and six months, for aggravated robbery resulting in death. He was remanded in custody for an additional 12 weeks on Monday. A date for the appeal case has not yet been set, but is anticipated to be held in early 2027. Heidi Sagen was found dead in her home in Hamar on February 25, 2025. The court will revisit the evidence to determine the validity of the initial conviction.
