A Malaysian activist, Neow Choo Seong, is undertaking a 290-kilometer (approximately 180-mile) run from Taiping to the Malaysian Parliament building. The purpose of this physically demanding endeavor is to raise awareness and funds for three elephants currently residing in a Japanese zoo. Seong aims to secure the elephants’ relocation to a sanctuary in Malaysia, arguing for improved living conditions. The activist began the run on January 21st and expects it to take several days to complete. He is documenting his progress and appealing for public support through social media. This initiative highlights concerns regarding animal welfare and the ethical treatment of animals in captivity, specifically focusing on the well-being of these three elephants in Japan. Seong hopes his run will pressure authorities to facilitate the elephants’ return to a more natural environment.
