Malaysia is considering officially designating a national fruit, currently weighing the options of durian and pineapple. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will conduct a nationwide survey through the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) to gauge public opinion. Deputy Minister Chan Foong Hin stated the survey will serve as a key reference point for the government's final decision. Currently, Malaysia does not have an officially declared national fruit, despite both durian and pineapple being widely cultivated and consumed. This initiative aims to involve citizens in a symbolic national choice.
