Malaysia’s Ministry of Health (KKM) has ordered its Digital Health Division to immediately study the feasibility of transitioning the nation’s sick leave system to a secure digital platform. This move is a direct response to ongoing issues with fraudulent sick certificates. The aim is to curb the activities of syndicates producing and distributing fake medical certificates. A digital system is expected to enhance security and verification processes, making it more difficult to abuse the system. The study will focus on implementing a more robust and reliable method for managing sick leave requests. This initiative reflects a broader effort to leverage technology to improve healthcare administration and reduce fraudulent practices within the system. The Ministry anticipates a more secure and efficient process for both employees and employers.
