Thousands of people visited the Church of Saint Anthony in Lisbon on June 13th, the day dedicated to the city’s patron saint. Pilgrims traveled from around the world to visit the church believed to be the birthplace of Saint Anthony. Many purchased candles, carnations, and traditional bread as part of their visit. For some, the pilgrimage to the church near the Lisbon Cathedral is a long-standing family tradition. The event occurs alongside the popular Lisbon festivals of “Marchas” and “arraiais”.
