The Government of India has appointed Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the current Vice Chief of Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff. He is scheduled to officially assume command on the afternoon of June 30. This transition coincides with the retirement of the current Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, on the same day.
