Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has suspended sales in Southeast Asia after discovering tampered devices being sold, specifically in Singapore. The company detected evidence of compromised devices, leading to the immediate halt in sales across the region. While the total financial loss remains unclear, blockchain analysts estimate approximately US$86 million in cryptocurrency has been stolen as a result of the security breach. Ledger is currently investigating the scope of the tampering and working to identify affected customers. The incident raises concerns about the security of supply chains for hardware wallets and the potential for malicious actors to intercept and compromise devices. Customers are advised to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of their Ledger devices. The company has not yet specified when sales will resume in Southeast Asia.
