A new exhibition opened at the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia on Wednesday, coinciding with the 86th anniversary of the Soviet occupation of the country in 1940. The exhibition, titled “The Hybrid War Against Latvia, 1939–1940,” was created by historian Kārlis Dambītis. It examines the events leading up to and including the Soviet military entry into Latvia on June 17, 1940. The exhibition notably draws comparisons between the historical tactics employed during the Soviet occupation and contemporary hybrid warfare strategies. Latvian Television reported on the opening, highlighting the relevance of understanding past events in the context of current geopolitical challenges. The exhibit aims to provide historical context for modern security concerns and inform the public about the complexities of influence operations.
