A significant proportion of stroke patients in Vietnam, around 40%, arrive at hospitals more than 24 hours after symptom onset. Traditionally, this timeframe was considered beyond the effective “golden hour” for treatment. However, recent advancements in diagnostic imaging techniques are now offering a chance for some of these late-presenting patients to undergo successful revascularization therapy. These new techniques allow doctors to identify patients who may still benefit from interventions to restore blood flow to the brain, even well outside the standard timeframe. This provides a renewed hope for improved outcomes for a large segment of the stroke population. The use of advanced imaging is crucial in determining treatment eligibility in these cases. This development signifies a shift in stroke care possibilities within Vietnam’s healthcare system.
