Zdenka Mašínová, a member of a prominent Czech resistance family, was mourned today at a funeral service in Olomouc. She was the daughter of Josef Mašín, a key figure in the “Three Kings” anti-communist group, and sister to Josef and Ctirad Mašín, who famously fought against the communist regime in 1953 and escaped to the West. Mašínová passed away last Wednesday at the age of 92 in an Olomouc retirement home. Her brothers’ courageous act of armed resistance became a symbol of defiance against communist rule in Czechoslovakia. Notably, her brother Josef did not attend the funeral, reportedly due to a long-held personal principle. The funeral was held at the Evangelical Church of the Brethren in Olomouc, drawing those wishing to pay their respects to a figure connected to a pivotal period in Czech history.
