Organizers are planning a commemorative event on June 27th to mark the 50th anniversary of “Koncert mladosti” (Concert of Youth), a significant music festival held in Pezinok, Czechoslovakia, in 1976 and 1977. The original festival was notable for taking place during a period of strict political normalization that suppressed rock and independent culture. Considered a precursor to modern Slovak festivals like Pohoda, “Koncert mladosti” served as a symbol of freedom for a generation. Founders Ladislav Snopko and Pavol Boriš are orchestrating the revival event. The event aims to recapture the atmosphere of the original concerts, which provided a rare outlet for cultural expression under communist rule. Organizers describe the original festival as a “Czechoslovak Woodstock,” highlighting its cultural impact.
