The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has actively campaigned against the discrimination faced by individuals living with HIV within the food sector in Lagos. During a sensitisation meeting, LSACA emphasized that HIV cannot be transmitted through food preparation, handling, or serving, aiming to dispel unfounded fears. The agency urged employers and workers alike to cease stigmatizing those with the virus, promoting a more inclusive work environment. LSACA’s message directly addresses concerns surrounding food safety and clarifies that an individual’s HIV status does not pose a risk in this context. This outreach seeks to educate stakeholders and foster a more informed and compassionate approach to individuals living with HIV in Lagos State. The agency hopes to reduce prejudice and encourage acceptance within the Lagos food industry.
