Kyrgyzstan is set to simplify the process of collecting child support from debtors residing in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. A bill ratifying protocols to the Minsk and Chisinau Conventions received approval from the relevant committee within the Kyrgyz Parliament – the Jogorku Kenesh. This legislation aims to improve enforcement of financial obligations for children across borders. The move will facilitate quicker and more efficient recovery of unpaid child support. The Minsk and Chisinau Conventions provide a framework for international cooperation in the recognition and enforcement of court decisions regarding child support. Ratification of these protocols demonstrates Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to protecting the rights of children and ensuring financial support from parents living abroad. The bill now advances through the legislative process for final approval.
